Winter Blankets, Hats & Gloves

For a family sleeping under canvas at minus five, a thermal blanket is not comfort — it is survival until morning.

What's Happening

Winter arrives early and hard in the mountain districts and displacement camps we work in. Night temperatures fall well below freezing while families remain in tents, tarpaulin shelters or homes with no glazing and no heating.

Bedding is the first thing lost when a family flees flooding or conflict, and the last thing they can afford to replace. Households ration what they have, with several children sharing a single thin sheet.

The result is preventable illness — chest infections, hypothermia in infants and the elderly — in communities where the nearest clinic is hours away.

Our Response

We buy heavy thermal blankets in bulk from regional suppliers, which keeps the unit cost low and puts money back into local economies rather than paying for international freight.

Distribution lists are compiled with village elders and verified by our field team, prioritising infants, elderly people living alone, widows and households with a disabled member. Each family signs for their blankets on receipt.
