Emergency Housing & Shelter

A family with nowhere to sleep tonight cannot wait for a long-term programme. Emergency shelter buys them safety while we work on something permanent.

What's Happening

Flooding, fire, conflict and sudden eviction leave families on the roadside with whatever they could carry. Many end up in unfinished buildings, tents or shared rooms with no sanitation.

Without an address, children drop out of school and parents lose casual work. What began as a housing problem quickly becomes a health, income and education crisis.

The immediate needs are simple: a secure room, weatherproofing before the season turns, bedding, and enough stability for the family to recover.

Emergency Housing & Shelter — relief work in the field

Our Response

We cover emergency rent for displaced households, supply tarpaulin and shelter-repair materials, and weatherproof unfinished buildings families are sheltering in before temperatures drop.

Each household is assessed by our field team and reviewed monthly. Where a family can be moved into permanent housing, we transfer them into our long-term House Construction programme.

“Whoever relieves a believer of a hardship of this world, Allah will relieve him of a hardship on the Day of Resurrection.”

Sahih Muslim
